Pistol magazines live in the grip and come in single stack and double stack designs. Most modern striker pistols ship with 15 to 17-round double stack magazines. Slim carry guns and the 1911 use single stacks.
How many?
Three is the minimum for a carry or home defense pistol: one in the gun, one on you, one spare. Training and competition shooters keep many more.
